Automotive Mechanic

Role Summary: At Barbee Auto, we don’t just "swap parts"—we solve problems. We are looking for a lead-level Mechanic who thrives on the challenge of complex diagnostics and precision repair. As a key member of our family-owned shop, you’ll be responsible for maintaining our reputation for honesty, technical excellence, and high-performance results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advanced Diagnostics: Use scan tools and traditional troubleshooting to identify root causes of engine, electrical, and drivability issues.

• Full-System Repair: Perform high-quality repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspensions, and steering.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the Service Advisor to provide accurate estimates and clear explanations of needed repairs.

• Quality Control: Road-test vehicles and perform final inspections to ensure every job meets the Barbee safety and performance standard.

• Shop Upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work bay consistent with a professional shop environment.

Required Qualifications:

• Proven Technical Skill: Strong background in automotive mechanical repair with a specialty in diagnostics.

• Tool Ownership: Must possess a complete set of professional-grade hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs as required by the job.

• Experience: Previous experience in an independent shop or dealership setting is preferred.

• Trustworthiness: We build our business on integrity; you must be honest with the team and the customers.

• Positive Attitude: A "can-do" mindset, especially when tackling difficult or "ghost" mechanical issues.

• Working Etiquette: Professionalism in how you treat shop equipment, follow safety protocols, and interact with colleagues.

• Reliability: Showing up on time and being a person the team can depend on daily.
